So today I took the drywall out in the room behind my bathtub. My waste and overflow pipes are concreted into the slab. Is there a way to keep the old pipes or do the waste and overflow pipes have to be replaced? Also I have attached a picture of what it looks like. The concrete mixed around the pipes seems to be more of a gravel mix and I believe my drain pipes are galvanized steel.

Do you have any advice as far as the process goes? My friend has an angle grinder with a diamond blade he said I could use to cut around the drain that's concreted in. What steps do I need to do after that? It doesn't have to be filled in correct? Also is there a way to go from a PVC drain kit and attach it to the metal drain pipes already existing.
