My Kohler shower's temperature is too low while the hot water in this new house on PEX is quite hot. I want to adjust the temperature regulator (Rite-Temp?). However, I don't see any obvious way to remove the handle. There are no Allen wrench screws to losen and no parts of the handle or surround are easy to remove.

If it is in fact a Kohler rite temp, (it doesn’t look like one to me but I’ve been wrong before) the circular escutcheon directly behind the handle will unthread counter clockwise taking the lever with it. The larger plate is pinched to the wall by the center portion. Once the plate is off, there is a red stop that can be rotated back and forth to adjust the temperature. Local codes may vary, where I work the maximum allowable temperature is 112* F. I would consult your local plumbing code for the maximum allowable temperature. Use a properly calibrated thermometer. Don’t set it too high as you can scald yourself or others. It seems ridiculous, but it is a safety issue. Please don’t just guess and crank it all the way up. You may be surprised how hot 112 degree water is.
