Hi all, I just replaced my posi-temp valve trim with the 'Vichy' model and everything seems to be working great - nice and snug, no leaks, temperature is right. However, the handle seems to protrude out more then I was expecting. Is it just this model? I can't imagine what I could have done wrong, the stop tube, key & limit stops are all exactly the same sizes as the old trim kit and I had no trouble installing any of it. Does this look normal? Thanks!

Don't those trim kits come with both a short and a long chrome tube?

In any case, I would suggest calling Moen's tech support people. They are extremely helpful in solving most issues.

Unfortunately no, but that's exactly what seems like is too long. I'll give them a call, good tip, thanks!

If memory serves, the longer tube was for when your tub had a tiled wall (thick wall) and the shorter tube was for when your tub was an acrylic material (thin wall).

Take your trim back off and try shimming the faucet body back further. Move it back some and then put your face plate on
and the handle and see if it suits you.

That distance is determined by the rough in of the valve. It is set. The trim plate is thin on that model. You could go through all the trims and see if you can find a thicker plate to absorb that space.

The mixing valve can be moved back that little bit needed. If its set then take it lose and move it back.

Why would you want it back more?

About an inch more and the plate is going to be touching the handle.

Besides that, when you have to change the cartridge all the access water is going to fall inside the wall rather than into the base.

Let us know what Moen tells you when you contact them? I've ran into the same problem but haven't solved it yet.

Matt, he complained that the faucet was sticking out to far. He could move it back a little at a time until he gets
the handle where he wants it.

Depending how it’s roughed in. If the hot and cold are drilled straight through studs, she ain’t be movin!

That's correct. But I have moved them back when I didn't get the faucet body in the spot where I wanted it. Not much
more to add on this so I hope the guy gets it taken care of.

I’m fully aware of his complaint and how to fix it. I would like to know WHY it’s an issue? All Moen valves stick out like that. Mine does and it’s a deep wall application

The person that did the original post has the issue. He says the faucet handle is to far away from the plate. I'm just saying how it can be corrected without buying any other trim or whatever. Not sure what your saying but if you think I'm wrong then lets leave it at that. Maybe somebody else can
chime in on this and give a better answer.

No no I don’t think you’re wrong. All I’m doing is asking the original poster what is wrong with the way that it is? How it’s set is very common. It’s not set up incorrectly. It’s just aesthetics.

As I read it, the OP was just asking whether he did something wrong or whether that was the normal look.
So it sounds to me like the answer is as stated in Matt30's comments above.
