I have a 1/2” copper shutoff ball valve soldered on to the supply. The other end is not connected to anything. Can I solder a pipe to that valve without draining the supply? I will shut off the water and release the pressure against the valve, but I don’t want to drain it unless I have to? Thank you in advance for taking time to reply!

you can solder copper onto that valve without doing anything. The water behind it will make sure you dont unsolder the valve
