Hi, I'm new.

I work for a relatively small company that does pigging (line cleaning). We're prepping a project to clean some debris from the underdrain lines of the spillway at a dam. I've recently become the 'foreman' after my old boss retired, and I've run into a new (to me) situation. I need some sort of stiff but flexible rod or line that would be suitable for pushing a 12 lb inflatable pipe plug/bag a considerable distance past a long-sweep 90 in a 12" line. We will be sending a push camera along with the plug so we can pinpoint placement (at a lateral). We're hoping the camera line is sufficient to push the plug as well, but I'm not certain it will, and we may need to push the plug ahead of the camera in some places, which will require multiple push lines. I am envisioning a sort of long fiberglass pole with threaded ends that can have additional poles screwed on to it as the plug is pushed farther and farther into the line. But I'm having no luck finding such a product.

I would prefer to find something stronger than typical push-camera line, as we may need to push for a considerable distance.

What would you use in this situation?

They sell that exact type of fiberglass rods with metal threaded ends in a kit, to clean out 4 inch dryer duct.

I doubt the rods are stiff enough for 12 inch pipe, but maybe you could gang several together somehow, just an idea.

Maybe they make thicker rods for larger pipes?

Do you know what those are called or where they're sold? That sounds like what I'm looking for, but nothing like that shows up when I search engine for it...

These would pbly be too flexy in a 12 inch pipe, unless you could bundle them somehow.

I bet someone makes them in thicker diameter for bigger pipes.
