Will these pieces all fit together and is there a simpler way to do it?

I'm trying to connect the output of this submersible pump to 1.5" PVC (1.9" O.D. and 1.56" I.D.) and I'd like to make sure that I'm doing it correctly...

The pump is said to have a 1.5" O.D. output for a hose...

1.5" I.D. hose that should fit over the 1.5" O.D. pump output...

1-1/2" Hose Barb x 1-1/2" MNPT Nylon Male Adapter, to connect the hose to the PVC, but a female adapter and coupler will also be needed...

1-1/2" Sch 40 PVC Spigot Female Adapter - Spig x Fipt 478-015 will connect to the piece listed above...

1.5" coupler will connect the piece listed above to the rest of the 1.5" PVC...

Did I do it correctly?

Might I need this clamp to make sure the hose stays connected to the pump?...

Are you purchasing the 1000 gph(16.7gpm at 0 feet of head) (13.3 gpm at 5 feet of head) pump, which comes with (3/4", 1" OD) and 1-1/2" OD Nozzles?

May I ask why you are buying, or looking at, "Food Grade High Pressure Braided PVC Tubing, 5 Ft Piece"?
Is you application an aquarium?

I was just wondering if you really needed a 1-1/2" hose for your intended flow and head conditions.

I would have just assumed (apparently incorrectly) that a 1-1/2" I.D. would fit on a 1-1/12" O.D. barbed nozzle connection which typically requires a little stretching to go on.

Yes, that's the pump I was thinking of using, although, it could probably turn the system over at least 10 times per hour at 4 feet of height, I might use a ball valve so it only turns a few times per hour. I was thinking of growing edibles in the aquarium, so yeah, the more I can stick to food safe materials, the better. I hear that using smaller PVC would make for a higher velocity in water flow, and that's something I'd like to avoid. Yes, I think you're right, just a little stretching and the hose should fit, but I was wondering about how it would connect to the PVC.

What do you have, about an 80 gallon container?
Yeah at 4 feet total height, looks like slightly higher than 800+ gph or about 14 gpm, since you'll have negligible friction loss thru a 1-1/2" hose. That would put the velocity in the neighborhood of about 2.5 fps.

Okay so you're talking about the other end of the hose. You just want to transition to 1-1/2" PVC fittings Your first 2 fittings mentioned (Barb x MNPT) & (FNPT x PVC Spigot) could be one fitting. A 1-1/2" Insert x Spigot PVC Adapter Sched 40.

Am I understanding correctly? Z-q48-mcpEx_.JPG

Use a hair dryer to warm up the end of the braided hose, get it very warm but don’t melt it.

It slides on easier when softened by heat.

I would also say to add a little dish soap mixed with water onto the male hose barb, as a lubricant, as long as you flush your new system before using it.

Good tips but I would wait until there was trouble with doing the barbed connections. And probably safer to use hot water to soften it. Depending on the exact hose, some are more flexible than others.
