Hi,

I need to change the faucet cartridge in my shower and I don't know how to find the model number. I wanted to buy the parts before I turn the water off bc the condo I'm in the water main is in my neighbors unit so I have to get him to turn it off when time to change. I didn't want to have him turn it off, wait for me to take out and reinstall while I go to the store to get parts. Thought someone might recognize this? All I know is it's Delta. Thanks!

Delta RP 3614 is the kit for under that handle. If you want to also replace the ball that is a RP #70.

Watch a Youtube video of the process to replace the seats/springs. It is not a cartridge. Be careful with the round white nylon piece that goes under the cap that you have to remove. That round white nylon piece has a small tag of plastic that must be seated in the faucet body slot to keep it from becoming mis-aligned. This detail is very important!

Use plumbers’ silicone grease all over and inside those little rubber parts you will be putting in.

Keep old and new parts well separated, they look alike, just trust me here.

Cover the drain with a wet rag, tiny parts will try to escape.

Clean out the valve body extra good, and flush it.
Or new parts will have a very short life.

Helpful hint, sometimes a super-thin Allen wrench is a great tool to tease out the springs and rubber boots.
Or a dental pick, cheap on Amazon.

Yes, the little molded in “key” of the white plastic part can easily go in wrong.

Also, I think there are a few different versions of rebuild kits for valves like these, based on the year of manufacture or other factors.
Some have a different-shaped type of “ball with a stalk” or call it what you want, which is what the big valve handle clamps onto, and does the controlling under that white plastic or nylon part with the index key.

Match your old “ball and stalk” to new one in rebuild kits.
