I have a property that is at an altitude that the mains water pressure doesn’t reach. I have had to install a pump and tank system. I will be building another, larger property at the same location in the future, so I installed a larger tank than what is currently required. I want to reduce the water level of the tank to around 30% (1000 litres down to around 300) so I don’t have too much standing water because of the legionella risk. Does anyone have any advice on how best to do this? I have tried bending the float valve, but this doesn’t reduce it enough. I have seen a product that seems to be perfect, but it is really expensive. Any ideas would be appreciated

My first reaction is to install a float switch for the pump. This will allow you to adjust the level at which the pump comes on to fill the tank, and when it shuts off.

How about a filter system with UV filtration to make your water safe.

I'm guessing the pump is down at the bottom of the hill somewhere, far removed from the tank. ?????

I’ve got one on a Forest Service Guard Station with half a mile between the pump, and the tank. We installed teh control wiring in the trench with the waterline.
