Hi,

I have a problem with my bath faucet. It has dual handle, a spout an an handshower. Now, it seems that the mechanism to toggle to the handshower is malfunctioning. If the pressure is low, the water flow from the spout. However as soon as I increase the pressure, the toggle mechanism stops the flow from the spout. I need to turn off the water to have it back. Since the bath faucet is enclosed I hope I don't havento change the faucet.

Sorry if I'm not using the right term, I'm a total newbee in plumbing.

I hope someone can help me over here.

Post a few pics of your bath faucet.

Sounds like the diverter needs to be repaired or replaced.

Some diverters are just a button that you lift to change the flow from spout to hand shower.

Others have to be rotated, or pushed into the wall, to do the same thing.

If the spout is separate from the faucet, you can just buy a new spout with a new diverter.

BUT PICTURES WILL TELL US MORE!!!

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for your reply. Here's some pictures.

Unfortunately, it's a homebrand (Rona) and Rona is not selling under their name anymore. Would a faucet from another brand would be compatible. I now understand that it's better to stick with well known brand.

Let me know if you need pictures from other angles.

Thanks again

That small sliding button at the base of the tub spout is the diverter control.

Lifting it up should send water through the hand shower, pushing it down sends water out of the spout.

They usually work combined with the water pressure.

So at low or no pressure, the diverter will usually not stay in the raised position.

If your diverter is not operating this way, it needs repairing. I don’t know if you can get parts to fix that diverter, pros on here might know.

The problem is that the water stop flowing from the spout when the pressure is a bit higher (one handle fully turned) even when the lever is at the low position. It wasn't doing this before.

There are parts inside your spout, connected to that diverter lever, that need replacing.

I am not familiar with that faucet.

If the faucet is discontinued, or the manufacturer is out of business, someone else might make compatible repair parts.

Look on Google for repair parts for the diverter.

The entire spout could be replaced, but would likely have to be the same company you have now, as everything else, valves and hand shower, is designed as one system and connects together, underneath the tub.
