Hi,

Can you help me identify material this pipe is made of? See picture

The pipe isn’t magnetic at all (strong neodymium magnet has no effect) and pipe doesn’t scratch easily and it’s definitely not a lead pipe. Pipe feels solid, thick and metallic. Home was build in 1920s.

Any experienced plumbers know what material this water pipe is made of ?

Thank you

Its galvanized pipe with a brass meter

Shouldn't galvanized respond to a magnet (iron?)? This pipe shows no affinity for a strong neodymium magnet at all.

My suspicion is that this could be a brass pipe and overtime it ages to s black color. Any thoughts?

the meter coupling looks the same color as the pipe. I have never seen a galvy meter coupling so I vote for brass
