I currently have American Standard shower system. The diverter does not work well. It does not send water to the shower head.

I need to replace the diverter. Can I replace a diverter from a different brand?

Thank you!

If it’s just a standard tub spout diverter, then yes. If it’s a diverter valve, then no, you need to acquire the replacement from American Standard

If you are talking about a tub spout with a handle you pull up to send water to the shower head, I would suggest a Danco tub spout with a pull down diverter. Search Home Depot for Internet #206391521.

In one of my rental properties, the pull up handle on the old spout would only send about 50% of the water to the showerhead. I replaced it with the one I listed above, and now, 100% goes to the showerhead.

It is just the spout diverter that when I pull the handle to send water to the shower head it does not work. I plan to replace just the spout diverter. Thank you!

Thank you! I will following your suggestions and get the pull down diverter.
