Hello everyone,
Need some help here.

My faucet (unknown brand) has been leaking and in need of changing the cartilage inside.

I can't seem to remove the faucet cap with an allen key, I've tried both metric and inches tools. Am i missing something here ?

I can't remove the faucet itself either as the contractor who installed it seems to have blocked the bolts.

Please see pictures and let me know what to do. I am not very handy btw unfortunately

Thanks
L

I have drilled out the allen screw before but its a delicate procedure you may ruin the piece that's attached to the handle sometimes the brand name is on the body of the faucet facing you or its on the drain assembly you also may be able to use a small easy out and remove it that way

Hi @havasu

I've posted this a few times
When I run into a stripped allen screw I will try and find a Torx bit that's close and tap it (gently) into the hole. The flutes on the bit will cut into the set screw and you can usually back it out. First I give it a little blast of PB Blaster, one of the best rust/corrosion products I've found.

House Doc has it right, a slightly oversize Torx bit.
Also, if the Torx wrench is still not grabbing, maintain good force in towards the screw, but also give the wrench shaft a little sideways push, while trying to twist out the screw.
So the bit is grabbing better on one side of the stripped set screw socket.

Are you 100% sure the set screw is still in there? I'd attempt PB blaster overnight, then pull up forcefully.

Thank you for the answers,

I am not sure what is happening with the faucet. I am assuming there is a screw since the faucet is not coming out, but for some reason the Ez Out isnt grabbing into anything and neither the Allen keys @havasu, @House Doc @Jeff Handy

I am not sure what the other options where to remove it @Mikey with the blaster (First diy at home) ..

I was thinking of removing the whole faucet and taking it to the store to either fully replace or remove the cartilage. Based on the pic of the underneath and the videos i watch i think thats not possible, i would have to get a thin tool to try to twist it from top ??

thanks again

I think @havasu is onto something. I'll bet someone in the past actually removed the screw, he coudn't get the thing off either and gave up. Can you get some kind of puller in there? Maybe make one to straddle the faucet and pull from both sides?
