I have a Moen four hole faucet that was installed in my house in 2006:

The faucet is loose from the granite counter, and I'm trying to determine how to fix it. Underneath, I see a white plastic "nut" where the cold water and hot water inputs feed to the handle. Here is the cold water side, but the hot water side is the same:

I can jiggle the white plastic nut, but cannot turn it, as it is in the granite. In addition, where the sprayer hose connects to the gooseneck faucet, I see a bronze nut, which seems tight, but I'm not even sure how to try to tighten it, given the small circulate hole that the nut is enclosed in:

Does anyone have any ideas how I can stop the faucet from moving around and properly tighten to the granite? Thank you.

If you can loosen the nut, and if there are enough threads, you could add washers, either metal or rubber so that the nut is accessible below the granite.

Here's a picture from an installation manual for a similar faucet set showing that indeed, you tighten the plastic nut. You'll need a basin wrench, probably. If that isn't working for you, Moen customer support is top-notch (800-BUY-MOEN). They will want the exact model of your faucet, but I'd guess all the top-mount faucets are similar.

there is also a tool out there (amazon) maybe other places called a basin buddy it goes on the end of a socket extension and fits over the plastic ears so you don't break them
you can also make that tool out of pvc pipe just cut slots into it

I was able to fix the loose faucet. I was able to remove the plastic nuts, added shank extenders, and used the plastic nuts which came with the shank extenders to tighten the faucet to the granite.
