Shower HELP!

Alright, I noticed my basement carpet was wet so I pulled it back and noticed it had been coming from the shower that is on the other side of the wall. This home was built in 1969 and I assume this is the original shower. And I don’t know what to do. When the water is on and hitting the wall it seems to just pour out of this grate like thing that has motor packed into it (pictures below) I pulled some of the lose tile off and now I can literally look into my family room from the shower. (Please see pics)

You might be able to brush or roll on a waterproofing membrane (normally used under the tile) (e.g., Armawall, RedGard) to mitigate the problem temporarily. It won't be pretty, and I don't know how durable it would be, but desperate people do desperate things.
