I am hoping I could get some honest opinions on a what I see as a small plumbing job, but I am not a plumber so I may be way off. We had a tile floor put in our bathroom and we want to get a new vanity, but most vanities with drawers on the right are not going to fit because of the present plumbing position. The cold water supply is about 10 1/2 inches from the side wall of the vanity. I should also mention that the vanity will be right up against the wall on the right. To me it looks like a 45 degree angle can be installed right where it comes out of the wall which I think will allow for drawers. The drain also has to be re-routed but I think that wouldn't be a big deal. I have attached a picture showing the plumbing. I had one guy come out and tell me he would have to open up the wall but I don't see that but like I said I am not a plumber.
Any help would be appreciated.IMG_1188.jpg

so your gonna get a vanity anyway so get it slide it in front of the piping were its gonna go then you will see how it will be to fit exsisting piping or if the wall needs to be opened...plus if its a new install and EVEN if the ppiing fit I would not want my name on that job look how dirty it s would you want that

It's 30 years old. The quote I got was $350-400 which is about the cost of a decent vanity. If that price is what it will be I will just keep my old vanity and paint it and get a new counter and sink. I don't see why he has to open the wall up to change the direction of the cold water supply and drain.

Set your new vanity against a bare wall someplace and then measure how much room you have between the back of the
drawers and the wall. That will tell you what you have to do.
It's the right side wall of the vanity that's the problem. There is only about 10 1/2 inches from the side to the plumbing.

It is hard to answer without being there and seeing where the trouble spots are. If the water needs to come out the wall in a different spot, then yes he would need to open the wall. Call another company to look at the job if you think it can be done a different way, it cant hurt.

Let me put this another way. Let's say the vanity is 36 inches wide with drawers on the right side. Some vanities had a wall that the drawer mounts to and others just have a rail that is at least 11-12 inches in from the right side wall of the vanity. Can the cold water supply and the drain be turned 90 degrees to clear the partition wall or rails without opening up the wall based on the picture? I apologize if I am not explaining my question properly.

I don't see why it can't have a elbow right where it exits the wall.

Sounds to me like you are saying there is enough room behind the drawers to put in an elbow and offset the line to clear the drawers. That would be doable.
What about the drain line cleanout? Does that clear the drawers?

unless you have the vanity or lay out the drawers walls center of vanity drain on the wall or the floor you are just guessing....if you know the vanity you want ask the store if it can be returned....if it doesn't fit.....like some of the above posters have mentioned take it out of the box slide it into place call the plumber back and get his opinion when someone is doing an install even if an 90 may work but it may look terrible in the LICENCED persons eyes you maybe ok with it but there is a sense of pride in any job large or small
