Have a Viesmann boiler with a leaking drain valve. Replacing the valve is the easy part.
I could use some help for proper drain sequence and most importantly the refill process.
Images of boiler can be seen at http://www.kitails.com/Boiler.html

Do I use the vent near the circulator pump to let air out as I refill?

Thanks for your help. I try not come here often since I really don't like to do plumbing

turn off gas, electricity.
turn off make up water
close all supply to zone valves
close all return from zone valves

open drain valve on boiler, change out valve

turn on make up water
open one [1] of the supply zones
connect hose to the return of that zone
let the water run through the system
after about an hour, turn on pump, close the hose valve
let the system circulate couple hours
then, open the supply and return zone valves
the system should be free of air

Does it matter it's oil fired? With all the electronics not sure if I turn off oil supply I can run circulator pump without jumpering terminals (hot wiring).

Forgot to include link to valves near electric zone valves (ball drain valve) http://www.webstonevalves.com/defau...e=customer/wecoin/customerpages/balldrain.htm
Looks like I can rig to drain from bottom as I fill system.

install a female cord end and a male cord end on the pump wire

that way, next time all you have to do is unplug the connection and plug into a cord

Okay, get your point now. My question naturally is the original installer didn't need that hotwire job. Do thay have access to special service modes of the boiler controls? I would assume so.
Thanks for your help
