I recently had my water heater replaced with a tankless unit. It's an old house and during the install one of the valves started leaking, the contractor used a temp fix to connect it to the non leaking valve with a hose.

I want to replace both valves but not sure what type of valve it is. It looks like a hose bib or some kind of gate valve.

Questions:
These water lines are going into the water heater so the valves should be lead free correct?
A utility sink and washer/dryer will most likely be tapped into the same water lines in the future, how can I future proof this?
What type of valves should I buy to replace these?

Amazon links to good quality valves would be appreciated.

It must be me but I just can't grasp what happened by your description, "It's an old house and during the install one of the valves started leaking, the contractor used a temp fix to connect it to the non leaking valve with a hose.".

Are you referring to those 2 red handled hose bibs that were existing on those 2 drops? They look like they may have been there for a washing machine, at some time.

It seems a bit strange that the water heater is being fed cold water and feeds the hot water system by way of those 2 drops. Was that the way your old water heater was connected?

It would appear that it was not a plumber that did this installation for you.

Those two old valves should be a relatively simple replacement. But that should be the least of your concerns.

Where does that clear tube coming from the vent lead to?

Please take a picture of the general location of the vent from the outside of the house, and let us see that.
