While this has nothing to do with the OP, other than it having been a frustrating plumbing problem as well to fix, it shows some of the crazy things people do when running lines...
Was trying to figure out why sprinkler head wasn't working - and not knowing how the lines were run I was random digging in strategic places to try to find which direction to go in with it to figure out where it was stopping.
Turned out the people that ran the line ran it right down the middle of the fence line between me an my neighbor.
So whenever they came to a fence post, they ran both lines (mine and my neighbor's) in a 'U' around the fence post, and continued on to the next fence post. Then did the 'U' around it on the neighbor's side. Next fence post - my side. Next one - her side, etc...
Finally found that the first fence post they hit near the valve was a neighbor side 'U', and at some point there was a cement patio put in on neighbor side. So they cut both lines at the time, poured the concrete, and never fixed the irrigation lines that were cut - neighbor's or mine.
Only reasoning I could think of is that maybe the irrigation lines were run before fencing went up when the houses were built. So then they had to fix things when putting in the fence/posts.
