How long would it take one of these things to rot from the inside out with regular wear and tear?
I'm thinking tenants were using Drano and not telling us when there was a clog.... the thing crumbled under my grasp like cardboard and it never had a leaking problem ever in 25 years.
 
Where was it. The vertical extension to the trap or the horizontal going into the wall. I dont think there is a set time. They should last a while but who knows you nay have had a defective one.
 
It also depends on the gauge of metal. Chemical composition of water. If it was in for 25 years, count yourself blessed.
