We have been experiencing low water pressure in our house the last few months and seems to be getting worse, especially upstairs and when two people are using the water at the same time.Water pressure from outside spigots seem fine but inside very low. Only thing that is on the water line coming into the house is a water softener.

Any suggestions on how to narrow down the issue?

Are your outside faucets before the water softener. If so, I would have the water softener checked out, may be plugged up. Or for now
you could by-pass the softener by turning the knob and taking it out of service. Less us know what you find.

Spigots are before the water softener so I will do bypass of the softener to see if there is a change and will report back

Thank you!

I took the water softener out of service and the water pressure is much better. Bad water softener valve or something else?

Water softener is plugged or something. I would have it checked out or replace if its old. It sounds to me like you could
replace it yourself and save some money.

I just went through this same problem. I tried everything to find out why my water pressure was low in my 15 year old home. Never found any thing wrong until one day someone mentioned if I'd checked the water softener. Using the bypass, I took the water softener out of the loop and the pressure went back to normal. Now I'm thinking I need a whole new softener. ($) Called the company that installed it, 15 years ago, the service man came out and inspected it. He said the "Resin Tank" needed to be replaced. Over years it naturally fails. He replaced it and the water pressure is back to normal, at a lot less cost than a whole new system.
