we have this Am Stand shower body.

The 2nd floor shower pressure seems down as compared to 2nd floor bath faucet and other shower on the 1st floor, though I haven't measured. It definitely feels as if it has drifted down over time.

Could the pressure balance have other issues (other than the fact it's an Am Stand) that would make the pressure drop off, even though it is made for "hard" water (which ours isn't)?
I checked for stones in the shower elbow and head, and cleaned the head.

Does this part just fail every 5 years?

someone just had this issue with that valve they removed the cartridge and used compressed air connected to the shower arm you also could try a shop vac on the water inlets in the valve

I assume you know that a shower head is designed to restrict the flow to a much lower gpm than the bath faucet.

Also, 1st floor shower would have a higher flow than the 2nd floor due to the approx. 3.5 psi higher pressure, at the first floor.

But if you feel it has drifted down then definitely try to clear it as Geofd suggested, as well as removing shower head and clearing anything that may be affecting the flow.

If all fails you could see if there is a removable flow restrictor in the shower head. Like maybe a small washer of sorts.

cleaned the balance and pressure valve parts of the shower body.
Found a couple little bits of mineral or whatever.
Better but not great.
There were 2 washers in the shower head supply pipe. I took one out, but I wonder if the other is even necessary?
I re-covered the pipe thread with fresh teflon tape.
The hole in the restrictor in the head is small, but that hasn't changed. The tub fills at pressure, but the difference between tub and shower is too much.

there should only be a washer in the shower head connection

guess I'll try and Homie a new one. The present one there looks tired.
