I am in process of installing my Bathtub.

How to Connect my bathtub drain to main drain? There is a vent pipe running parrallel to my drain line in the subfloor. One side of the vent pipe connected to main drain line and other to the roof.

Can I connect my new tub drain line to vent pipe? Please see the pic

Thank you

NO. What is that 90 at the back end of your green arrow on the back end of the wye fitting? looks like its going down

That is P trap connection of existing centre drain. If I have to connect to that p drain then there will be two p traps. Please advice.

Can I remove that p trap fitting and add another long sweep/wye to connect the drain?

NO.

looks like your existing drain is a 1 1/2'' pipe
that is the minimum size for 1 [one] tub if you add a tub or shower the drain line to the main must be a 2'' line

you need to remove the 1 1/2'' piping back to the main, cut out the 1 1/2'' fitting and add a 2'' fitting on the main
then run a 2'' line upto the tub and the shower

Thanks for your suggestion. Please see the attached pic. Do you want me to use 2 inch drain line and connect it to 1 1/2 line near vent? Can I use long sweep while connecting existing drain line?48406490_2269928783285824_7588270359405658112_n.jpg

BTW I removed existing tub and replacing with other one. Intotal I will be using one tub with shower.

my bad, I thought you were adding another tub/shower
if it were me.

1] altho, the code says that you do not have to bring your piping up to code
I am counseling you that it is in your best interest, to remove the 1 1/2'' horizontal line from the main
to your tub. and replace it with a 2'' drain line. this will require you to cut out the 1 1/2'' fitting that is
currently attached to your main and replace it with a 2'' fitting.
I am assuming, the fitting is a 3'' x 1 1/2'' combination wye and 8th bend
2] remove the horizontal 1 1/2'' vent line and raise it
install a 2x2x1 1/2 san tee rolled on a 22.5 degree angle with a 22.5 street fitting inserted into the side of the tee
TIP. insert the fitting into the tee, then install the tee, use a level on the 22 as you install it to get the angle correct
3] use 2- 45 degree bends instead of a 90, to make the horizontal 90 degree change of direction

4] use a 2'' ptrap with a 2 x 1 1/2'' bushing inserted to reduce to 1 1/2 to hook up tub
