A pvc setup got broken by accident. I was able to get off the female piece that screws into the cast iron waste line. It is 1 1/2 inch sink drain. I would like to spare the expense and time of putting the rig back together. Most of it is OK and I have the new female fitting. The male piece that it will be glued on has the remains of the purple primer of the piece I got off with heat. My question: Can I glue over it? I figure a light sanding, new primer and then glue. Waddaya think? thanks

I have done many times. Very few times it still leaked. Check the roundness of pipe with new fitting first. I have heated to much and oblong the pipe a hair. Pain in the rear getting it back round
