hi
The los Angeles Environmental Dept wants filtration device on main bldg drain line that leave the building to city sewer
in a new plant nursery yard

(to avoid dirty water entering to the city sewer)

ANY RECOMMENDATION ?????

Call an Engineer. Seriously, designing, and sizing such things is something Engineers do.

That said, the planning and zoning office may have a standard plan. Or, suppliers may have a solution that will work.

If all, they are worried about is sediments, all you would need is a setting tank, kind of a septic tank but upside down.

If they are worried about removing things like dissolved fertilizers, you’re in a new world.

I recommend you ask the Environmental Dept what exactly is required. What level of filtration are they talking about? I mean, we are talking about a sewer line right? Or at least a reference to a code or regulation on the subject.:confused:o_O

Yeah when you start to feel like they aren’t guiding you good enough on phone. Tell them you have a pipe going into creek with a screen under it catching debris. They will get there quick fast and in a hurry. Then you can corner the guy and say what do you mean. Or around here we install a 3 section tank. It’s baffled in a way like a grease trap. But don’t call it a grease trap. There is a difference and I don’t know it. But inspector gets panties in a wad if you use wrong word to explain it.
