20180922_144848.jpg 20180922_144836.jpg Hi, I'm Vern and am a floor layer by trade. Was wondering if someone could help me out. This is a bit beyond my plumbing knowledge and need some advice. Thanks in advance.

Hot water faucet in bath has been leaking forever. After changing the cartridge up teen times i finally got a light and this is what i'm dealing with.
Here's my question(s)

That is “fitting” is integral to the body of the valve. The seat is chipped or eroded. Most faucets of that style do have replaceable seats so you might be able to replace the seat . But, the seats typically have either a square or hexagon that the wrench seats into, and I’m not seeing that.

You may be faced with replacing the whole valve.

Would you know if Home Depot/Lowes carry this particular part.
I'm trying to avoid changing the whole rough in valve. Thanks so much by the way.

Well patience has never been much of a virtue of mine and i never let fear or common sense get in the way so .... i found a drill bit bit enough, jammed in the center of the seat and sure enough.... 20180922_174718.jpg out it came. Now, does anyone know where i can get a seat this size. Thanks @FishScreener. I would have not even considered this without your reply

I can’t really see well enough to say what’s in there. You might try removing the cold side to see what it looks like.

HomeDesperate, and Lowers both carry a limited selection of seats. Typically if they have the cartridge they will have the seat.

If there isn’t a seat, you might be able to build up the seat area with some form of epoxy.

As much as i love the 5 min epoxy we use to power stretch carpet when in a rush i wasn't looking forward to trying it on this lol. Do you recognize this size/type of seat ...thanks again m8

You'd think ....lol. Thanks so much man you are awesome for replying and helping me out. You ever need any flooring advice hmu. All the best to you and yours.
Kind regards Vernon

Actually I'm curious to see if this will hold up ....20180922_184939.jpg 20180922_184953.jpg Going to let it cure for a bit and sand/grind it down with the Dremel and see if works out. Been just itching to use my bench sand blasting cabinet converted to a little Dremel work shop enclosure. Rotary tools are great but they are messy and noisy. Hopefully this changes that. Sure don't wanna be working in my non-heated shed....we got a foot of snow here already ffs. Cheers guys and thx again for the help.

Omg it worked ........ for about five seconds lmao. Ok so little experiment over now i'm back to reality and looking online for the right seat and i may have gotten lucky as a local box store has a set on a clearance sale. Every one else that carries these are closed tomorrow. 20180922_181617.jpg My question is the ones they have are 9/16. I assume that's the outer diameter of the thread. Just want to be sure before i waste a trip. Thanks

Not sure how they size them. The local Ace has boxes of them, and I just look through until I find a match.

They sale those seats at most hardware stores. Lowe’s has stopped carrying as many as they use too. So a good hometown hardware might have it. The old shop I use to work at. They had a genius parts guy that would help weekend warriors find odd parts and show where to order. Never hurt to walk into a plumbing shop and just ask. But if they wanna out j b weld on it? Leave. At Lowe’s they have a seat board. Take your seat in and match threads and size and then you can shop online. Just from looking it’s obviously older but maybe Kohler or Chicago brass. But basically it’s a match game. And you will want a seat wrench to reattach. I always rub a little pipe thread compound on seat threads to help snug it in. Not tighten the dog mess out of it. Just snugg it. It’s brass.
Now let’s go back to logic. You got a lot of wall repair to fix an old valve. That your leaving that old valve in wall. Your fixing that valve you have had trouble with ,in that wall. Why not get a single handle delta and replace? Your 3/4 the way there and a couple nights with water off already. And when the new valve eventually leaks. ( all valves eventually leak , again) you just pull a cartridge and delta sends you a new one. Free. Forever.
Your mechanical mind has gotten you into a harder mess than just changing valve. So surely you can figure out how to easily replace valve. I got faith in ya with what I see so far. You made this far. Your $125 away from a delta and a happy wife. You tube “changing 3 handle tub valve to single handle delta”
You got this bro.
