New sink installed, want to save space in cabinet below. Is a compact disposal a good choice? Only use disposal for discharge from dishwasher, which is supposed to finely grind the gleanings from the dirty dishes, pots and pans...
Thanks for opinions.

what is a compact disposal. Insinkerator make a disposal called a compact but it's not really compact.
small bits of food coming from a dishwasher really don't need to be ground up in a disposal.
just use a branched tail piece to connect dishwasher drain hose to kitchen drain.
That hose coming from dishwasher is only 1/2" or 3/4 max dumping into a 1 1/2" drain.

get one with a flanged top end and a captured nut. That will screw right on to bottom of basket strainer. don't forget the gasket

Compact disposer is a misnomer. You will not save any space. Branch tailpiece, no disposer, that’s the ticket.

Attached is a pic of a compact disposal next to a standard sized disposal. I purchased the compact version ... hope it is durable.

Most of the size is the sound proofing. Which is why I would expect it to be far noisier than the “larger” unit.

You are opting for more problems, noise, smell, leaks, vibration, electrical issues vs a 17 gauge branch tailpiece. I would skip the disposal.
