David, what is Costco?? Is that a plumbing supply house in your area? Or is this online only. Will you be able to get parts easily
for these faucets.

Costco is a big store, maybe called Sam's Club in some areas. I thought they were nation wide.
They sell bulk items originally for small businesses but anyone can buy a membership.
You pay an annual fee for membership. They sell food, clothes, tires, furniture electronics , alcohol, PHx and glasses, solar systems, and kitchen faucets.

Used to be Price Club many years ago
We are seeing a lot more HansGrohe stuff around here and I think parts are readily available.
They are pretty good about sending you parts like Moen.

Went to Drag races . Had some Nitro cars doing 144 mph in 3.5 sec.
The strip is on a reservation and the also a very seriously successful casino. Well we had to hit it on the way home. I got a souvenir and never even spent a dime there. That’s a whole nother story.

Step 1

Pealed the “skin” from the inside of the ribs.

Turned the grill on and set it to the smoke setting.

Mixed up mustard, apple juice, honey and Worcestershire sauce.

Slathered the mixture onto the ribs, put McCormick pork rub on them.

Put the ribs on the grill at 0930 where they will be until 1230 (3 hours).
ribs2.jpeg

Step 2

Pull the ribs.

Set the grill on 225°

Tent ribs in aluminum foil, cover them in brown sugar and honey (I used all of the honey in step one so it’s Blackburn syrup) and put a little apple juice in the bottom. They’re now back on the grill for two hours.

Step 3

Removed them from the foil. They were so tender that I had to cut each rack in half to move them. Even so one bone fell out :).
(Three halves pictured)

ribs4.jpeg

Slathered them in Kraft Honey BBQ Sauce and put them back on the grill. I’ll pull them once the sauce seems to have set.

Mr_David, thanks for the link! I've been trying to decide between a side sprayer or pull down. Do you happen to know the height & reach of that one you linked? I didn't see it in the specs. I want to make sure it would clear the taller stuff without having to hold/remove the sprayer. I need to measure my current one-- it's actually a bit too low for my tastes-- although just by a fraction. Any info on how the sprayer works? My sister has a similar looking one that operates by touch as well as moving the lever. It was a bit of a pain to work with but something that would probably get easier with more use.
I was looking at these options, but still completely undecided. My sink has 4 holes (and somehow that just sounds dirty).

Costco is a pretty cool company-- they pay their workers very well & give them good benefits. Happiest employees I've met. I think minimum wage they pay is something like $15/hr, but quite a few get $20/hr. Not sure if that is what they pay the ones at the one Costco in Louisiana. Until recent years, there wasn't one here but they built one. We have a ton of Sam's Clubs but only that 1 Costco a few hours away. I haven't been to it yet though-- been to one near my sister in Albuquerque though. Very helpful employees there.

Frodo, I am absolutely drooling over those ribs. Those look so good. Beans & potato salad on the side?

Today I watched in realtime an event I will call "the plight of the carpenter ant". Was outside in the hot weather-- heat index 111-- but under a car port. Watched a carpenter ant trying to move a grain of rice that had been in some beef stew. For 10 min it struggled trying to find a way to get it unstuck from the pavement. Just when it finally made progress, the little yorkiepoo (this was at a friend's house) came up, nudged the ant aside with her nose, and ate the rice. The ant completely lost it's mind & started running around in circles in a total panic, trying to figure out what had just happened. My friend's gf took pity on the ant & found another smaller piece of rice that she put down in front of it. At first it started to run away, then it realized it was food. It stopped, examined it, lifted it, and then happily tried to re-trace it's steps back to the nest. It made it off the pavement, into the grass, and disappeared under some leaves. As an aside, I lost my TV remote & have been bored as hell & it's been too hot to do anything outside (other than watch ants apparently).

We still have the fire ant problem in the house. I've been trying to do some cleanup but my back is not cooperative & my brother has been sleeping most of the time. He crashed hard after unloading the cat litter & the packages from Mom's Amazon Prime day shopping spree.

My old red dog is doing even better. She's much happier and although she isn't 100% & still has bladder leak issues, she is moving around more & seems to have more energy. She keeps rushing in to the living room-- which is colder than the rest of the house, but it's easier to get her to move now that she can stand up on her own. The cats are not happy about her eating their food, but she's old & it makes her happy so they can deal with it. Fippy is slowly and begrudgingly having to learn to deal with other dogs in the house.

I tried to upload pics of my hot water knob (for the shower) but they didn't go for some reason. I'll have to try again later. Still trying to figure out the best way to fix it. And I need to do laundry but since it's in the hottest area of the house (no insulation back there), I've been procrastinating bc I feel like I'm entering a sauna & get overheated. I'm a wuss. LOL.

I did get some cleanup done in the living room today though, so that was progress. I need to be more active though-- and I need to stop eating so many cookies.

buy some bifen xts thru walmart .com and a 1 gallon spray bottle or a 3 gallon sprayer
this stuff kills anything , termites, ants, roaches, fleas, your brother lol
LOL! My brother has been a bit more helpful since he's unemployed, but he's still not good about doing his chores. Is the bifen stuff safe for cats & dogs? The biggest problem is in the kitchen.

I finally got my pictures to upload-- took 5 tries.hotwaterknobcloseup.jpg hotwaterknobfront.jpg hotwaterknobtop.jpg
The shower curtain is dark so it's hard to see in there. I had to use the flash on my camera. Man, it's a mess. That sediment from the water really coats everything & that ugly green fiberglass doesn't help. And yes, the tub spout sticks out from the shower wall a good bit.
I'm not sure what is behind the wall-- I *think* it's either PVC or galvanized. I'd have to move some furniture & remove a wall panel to see-- and I still need to get my prybar back from my friend.

Zanne, not really sure on the specs or height. You really don't want a sensor type touch faucet. you're asking for trouble.

OMG FRODO that looks awesome. I don't have the patience to cook something like that. I can imagine that it was well worth the effort.

Zanne, it looks like those handles have been on for quite sometime. You will probably have to go out and buy yourself
a cheap handle puller to get them off. I don't understand it but after seeing Frodo's pictures I had to go out and find
something to eat. Lol

Thanks for the info, Frodo. I'll look for that stuff and see if it will work. These ants are just driving me batty.
The warrior song reminded me of the Ballad of the ASA (Army Security Agency). The very first American killed in the Vietnam war was a member of the ASA, but that is something they won't tell you in history books. Found a video with the song & a slideshow of pics. Song ends about 3 min in but slideshow continues

At least one of them looks like one my father had in his collection of photos from his time in the ASA.

My issue with the handle is figuring out how to get the water to work when I turn it. LOL. I thought that the screw being loose was what was causing it to not work, so I tightened it, but it didn't help. Guess I have to take the handle off and take a look inside. I'll have to see if my brother will help by shutting off the water in the pump house (bc that is the closest shut-off that I know of) and turning it back on after. I really want to cut a hole in the wall panel on the other side and add an access panel.

Tom, the other handle is a cross knob and works fine. I think the hot water one was replaced sometime between 2005 to 2008. I'll have to see if I need a handle puller. Pretty sure the hot water one can come off just with unscrewing it, but not sure about what is behind it-- cartridge is probably shot or full of gunk would be my guess.

Edit: I forgot to comment on the kitchen sink faucet-- yeah, the touch thing was a bit annoying. I mean, if you want to bump it with your arm to shut off the flow, it might be convenient, but if you accidentally bump it (which I tend to do) it would be a pain.
What do you guys think about the pull-down vs side sprayer?
I also need to keep in mind that I have a freestanding dishwasher that is supposed to connect to the kitchen faucet when it is actually used. Right now it is serving as an island & we haven't hooked it up in awhile bc I don't really like using it. I often have to rinse stuff that I wash in it bc it leaves some white crud on things. I know that the pull-downs probably won't work for that application, but I'm wondering if I can remove the stupid soap dispenser & add a 2nd water faucet in it's spot to hook to the dishwasher-- it could be something cheap that can be turned out of the way when not in use. Although, side sprayer might be easier to configure.

Meanwhile, I removed the knob and saw this underneath:
hotwaterknobinside.jpg
If I understand correctly how it works, the knob's inner part should grip those splines & turn it? Is that how it should work?

So, do you think I can fix it by putting a new handle on and seeing if a new handle will grip the splines?
Or do I need to take the outer part off?

Mr_David, is that a particular brand? I know the handle was a replacement and that it was replaced numerous times over the years. I eventually plan to get rid of the tub and go to a single lever shower.

I just matched your photo with a handle in my book but didn't have time to post it.
the broach on a stem are usually specific with a particular stem.
Looks like the splines on the stem are okay so it's probably your handle that's worn out.IMG_6141.JPG
