I've just moved into a new apartment and I'm confused by this shower. There's no head, it just shoots water in one jet.

My question is: can I install a shower head onto it? The end looks incompatible.

Sorry if this is a beginner's question! Does anyone know what this is?

Very carefully unscrew that piece off of that shower arm. Then you can put on any shower head that you want. Have
someone else help you hold that arm steady while you take that piece off so it doesn't get broke off at the faucet.

You can't unscrew it. If you look at the 3rd picture you'll notice that it's been cemented on

You CAN unscrew it. Get a pipe wrench for the part closest to the wall and a correctly sized wrench for the other end. Carefully break it free. I don't think it is cement I think it is sealant that has hardened.

Thank you! I will try that!

It worked! I just scraped off some of the sealant and the wrench unscrewed it instantly. Thanks again!
