Hello All,

I don't want to order the wrong part. But before that I don't even know if this is something that exists.

I want to cement a bushing inside a 2" PVC pipe so that I can cement a 1.5" PVC pipe into the bushing.

I see this description from Charlotte and another vendor: 2" Spigot x 1-1/2" Socket PVC Reducing Bushing. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GJSNY78/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 I can't tell if this will do what I need.

As you probably figured out, this is to connect a 1.5" tub drain to the 2" riser.

Thank you,
Bill

This is a real fitting. You can buy them practically anywhere. Inch and a half by two inch bushing. Make sure its a bushing, not a reducer. Reducers have a lip in them.

Thank you. I saw this at HD and yes, it fits loosely inside a 2" pipe. Do Fernco or Mission make a rubber bushing for this purpose?

Thanks again,
Bill

I'm not sure you understood Justin''s comment. The 2x1.5 inch bushing is made to fit inside a 2 inch fitting, NOT on to a 2 inch pipe. In other words, if you have a 2 x 2 x 2 wye fitting, and you need to connect 1.5 inch pipe to that wye, the bushing would be glued into one arm of the wye fitting, and it would fit tightly. Then, your incoming 1.5 inch pipe would be glued into the inside of that 2 x 1.5 inch bushing. No need for a Fernco or Mission.

Thanks Jeff. No, I understand - I just didn't explain what the problem is. I don't have the height to add a bushing. The tub drain has a 1.5" wye (picking up the overflow and drain and it is 3/4" below the tubs bottom). It's my fault - I didn't see the AFR tub was below "grade". I have 3/4" sub floor so I'm OK without adding a bushing if I could insert 1.5" pipe into the 2" pipe with a way to seal or cement it. I'd need to go from the 1.5" wye to 2" riser as short as possible. If I had a 1.5" 1.5" 2" wye with the bottom the 2" hub I'd be OK.

While I'm on this subject. The tub drain wye has a baffle blocking half the tub drain outlet. If I use a different wye (I see 1.5" hub 1.5" hub 1.5" street from Canplas) that doesn't have this baffle, would this be a problem?

Thank you all,
Bill

Bill - I am certainly not a plumber, but I do plumbing work on my rental properties.

Sorry I can't help any more. Hopefully one of the pros will be along shortly.
