ISE is more popular, therefore replacement parts are easily accessible. They also have pricing that suits everyone's needs. I've always used them and never dissatisfied.

Thank you. Is the ISE Evolution Excel 1 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal worth the $340 ?

A retired plumber told me that above 0.75 HP is risky because the pipes may not be able to handle the load.

Which of the ISE models are your favorite and why ?

Even though it's available on the market, I usually don't see a need for a 1 HP disposal. I have installed the ISE Evolution Compact 3/4 HP in many homes and customers have never complained.
Keep in mind that a garbage disposal/food waste grinder is not designed or intended to be a food receptacle. Food and waste is still supposed to be scraped off in the garbage and the disposal is supposed to take care of the parts that don't make it in the trash. There is a long list of things that should not go into the disposal and the manufacturers may advise you on the warranty card (coffee grounds, egg shells, rice, etc.).

So you are indicating that a common homeowner need not use a unit greater than 3/4 hp ? Or are you recommending the ISE Evolution Compact model over other brands/models ?

In my opinion, if you need greater than 3/4 HP for residential use you may be using the disposal as a garbage can instead of it's intended use.

I have an old 1/2 HP ISE disposal that my wife acquired used. At first she was peeling potatoes and carrots into it and scraping full plates of food that would jam it up. In turn, the stuff that did make it through was causing build-up in the drains because it just didn't belong there anyways. Once I educated her on the proper use of the disposal we have been trouble free for 4 years and the disposal still runs like a champ.
A builder that I worked for installed only WasteKings in his homes because of the lower price, but I had more service calls for them than ISEs that were installed for another builder. It seemed that WKs would need to be retightened from vibrating loose and leaking, would leak from internal seals and jammed up easily. On testing the appliance after a new installation in a new construction home, I have returned WKs because of defects or performance issues, but never had to return an InSinkErator. Some customers would ask for and pay for a replacement and seemed more satisfied with the ISE Compact upgrade.
I'm trying to be objective so that you can form your own opinion. I wouldn't want to be accused of badmouthing a product that others may be very satisfied with.

Thank you. I was favoring getting the ISE Evolution Excel 1 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal for a part cost of $340.

Does WasteKing's 10 year in home warranty cover clogging, loose bolts, and leaky seals ?

The only thing that I can comment on relating to warranties is that a warranty will be void if the product is not used in accordance with its design.
Yeah, it's vague but each manufacturer has their own criteria to determine if the appliance failed from defect, normal wear or was abused. They may also require you to send, at your cost, the broken appliance back to them...determine the problem...then compensate you what they believe you deserve. Warranties can be tricky and details are important.
Some will provide that info in the box or it can be found on their websites.

I tend to just pick up a "little better than average" ICE garbage disposer, never pay over $100 bucks, and they last ~10 years or more. Once they are shot, I toss them and in about 5 minutes, the new one is up and running. Too much over thinking this, in my honest opinion.

If you want to see some truly insane over thinking on plumbing fixtures, you should spend some time with a few of the bored housewives with loads of cash to spend on kitchen faucets that Ive dealt with.
Then again...maybe they weren't over thinking the type of faucet. They just wanted some company.

Your entitled to your opinion, but many people research things thoroughly in order to feel good that they make the best decision with all information available at the time of the decision.

I have a few more questions, but will get the answers elsewhere since you seem to not enjoy them.

I'm sorry you feel this way, but just remember, opinions are like @$$#@!, and everyone has one. It just seems you are adamant about purchasing a $300 disposal, and if so, good for you. Me, I'm a bit more frugal, and would rather keep some money in my pockets.

Two reasons:

1. I cannot install it myself, so in paying a skilled person it feels better to have the labor less than the part.

2. In the next year will change to a stainless steel sink, and it seems that getting a quieter disposal now will be reasonable because of this proposed transfer.

Does this make sense ?
