Boy, you weren't kidding. That is tight! Great job. I use a flunky kid instead of that nice box to drop the old tank onto. Kids heal, boxes don't!

(Just kidding)

Havasu, wish we had someone like you in the area. You'd be getting free food all the time. LOL.

As for the Canadians, most of the ones I've met have been nice, but there are some I've encountered online who are rude-- there was one guy in particular on Terrylove's forums who couldn't spell worth crap & was extremely rude to some of the other guys. He was always nice to me, but I never argued with him on anything. I do think that the internet in some way emboldens the keyboard warriors to say stuff they wouldn't say to a person's face. I've had some men on FB threaten me w/ physical violence & I've laughed at them bc I know that they would be too afraid in person. I'm not even intimidating in size or anything, but I've had people who mouthed off literally run away from me when I called their bluff.

Twowax, I like the color of the walls in that little laundry area. I'm assuming it's a laundry area.

Just talked with my friend about the water supply thing. I personally thought it would be better to make sure we have everything run under the house and tethered in place before cutting off anything inside and then running stuff down, going back under and hooking stuff up. But he only wants to go under once. I want to make sure I have working shutoffs for everything though. and I'm wary of shutting stuff off and then something possibly going wrong. If I could physically fit through all of the spaces I'd need to in order to access the plumbing, I would be the one staying underneath myself while he put things down from above. Bumped that all back to Friday. I also want to make sure everything has a shutoff inside. I would like to have a shutoff for everything underneath just in case, but that isn't going to happen. Might end up having to bump it back to Sunday or Monday if some of the shutoffs don't work.

Anyone have suggestions on this? We are running all new PEX to replace shattered CPVC for hot water and then we are gutting all of the cold water lines. Since we are renovating in the near future, need to have some of the lines moved.
This is the current layout, but I want to have water supply arranged for the newer layout as well:

If you can see it well enough, the bathrooms on the left are staying the same in terms of water supply. But the laundry room and bathroom on the lower right are being flipped. Old shower's lines are being eliminated. Supply for the old lavatory will be diverted to the washing machine (just bumped over a little-- these will be run but capped until lines can be run properly from above). Old toilet will be eliminated and a new line run for the new toilet (which will be capped while waiting for use). Cap will be needed for hot and cold of old utility sink (which will become lines for the new lav). Old washing machine hookup will be moved over to supply water for the showertub that will be installed. We've got a bunch of plastic pex barb manifolds that go from 3/4" inlet to 1/2" outlet. There are 3 outlets on some and 4 on others. Trying to figure out the best way to run this. Hot water line is already run for the kitchen sink. My friend has already put together the 3/4" tees and such for the washing machine so those will not be through a manifold.

Not trying to hijack the thread, just want to make sure we have everything planned out before we start.

I'm about to go have some more rice and gravy because my brother actually cooked. He made a huge mess I'll have to clean up, but there's food! LOL.

Nice! I will have to remember the box thing. I often have to work on stuff alone-- although, my friend is going to help with the plumbing thankfully. And he will get a nice big breakfast & probably some food afterward if he's hungry.

He told me his plan that I wasn't getting before. He's going to cut some sections of PEX to run down through the floor after cutting off existing PVC & CPVC pipes. Once he has all of the pipes run down there we will go under with the main PEX lines, manifold pieces, tees, cinch rings, etc. Get everything positioned, slide the elbow conduit over the branch pipes so they will make the 90° turns up to the floor smoothly, put everything together on the underside, & use the J-hook thingies to secure the pex up to the bottom of the joists. All the old PVC/CPVC supplies will get torn out. Wish we could get the derelict metal pieces out. They get in the way & are no longer hooked up to anything. I need to look at what manifolds I have again.... Anyway, once it's all done underneath, we can hook stuff up inside. The branches that won't be hooked up yet (due to future renovations) will be left under the house tethered to the nearest joits, and capped. The elbows to make them go up will be taped so they won't fall off (but can still be moved later). I got a whole bunch of the conduit elbows before they went up in price.

I'm about to get up and do some cleaning and try to make sure my friend can get to some of the places he'll need to get to on Friday. The pipes in the closet are not going to be fun to deal with. Can't go pulling stuff out of the closet until its time to work on stuff. We'll also need to move furniture in mom's room & finish cutting an access hole in the wall behind her lingerie chest for her shower's plumbing.

I did pick up mail and went to Walmart to get a few things. Dogs were low on food. My brother non-noncommittally agreed to help me with more cleaning tomorrow. Which means he probably won't. Even if he agrees or promises to he usually doesn't. But we'll see.

I did some cleaning and couldn't stop obsessing over the planning of water supply lines & my friend wasn't understanding what I was describing in text so I went over with sketches of the layout to discuss it with him and we marked up the layout in pen and listed the required fittings.

Long story short, yesterday I squeezed my fat behind under the house to pull out old PVC and pull down the new PEX we ran from above and then help my friend get the pipes run to tie in to manifolds. I mostly handed him tools and fittings and then fed pipe in. I didn't have to crawl too deep this time, but I did get chewed up by the blackberry bushes a bit. So while my friend was under before I got back under I got a mini one-hand chainsaw and chopped the hell out of the blackberry bushes and weeds that were in the way. Had gardening gloves on but the thorns still got me. Cut until the battery ran out. Then got back under to help. It was much easier getting out without the thorns grabbing at us. Tomorrow I need to tackle the ones near the kitchen window. I even took down some small pine trees with that saw. Need to get the link from Mom since it's a handy tool. Has it's own case, comes with extra chains, 2 batteries, instructions, charger, etc. Nice little device.

Anyway, later today I'm going to get more of those blackberry bushes so we can get to the underside of the kitchen and run the remaining cold lines. Got everything run but kitchen faucet (cold -- hot is already done) and outdoor hose bibb. Friend's arms and hands were hurting too much to continue. My back was giving out on me anyway.

Trying to get my mind rested enough to nap before I have to get up.

I spent the last week installing surveillance systems in two of my neighbor's houses. Today I say the system I really want for my house so I attacked Cyber Monday with a vengeance. I guess 3 layers of surveillance at my house will be a bit redundant, but with the new one being a 4k, I should be able to see a gnat's ass at midnight from 100 yards away.

Havasu, that was nice of you. I wish I knew more about security systems. Not much to see out here though. Mostly the cows. People don't tend to bother us. My friend could use security though.

Today had ups & downs. My friend sold a bunch of stuff to be able to afford a 70" TV on sale. We saw it was in stock at a Walmart in another town but the place was closed for the night. Got up super early (4:40am) and checked again, still showed as available. Picked my friend up around 5 and drove the almost hour to the place. Waited for doors to open, got in, and it was out of stock. Employees must have bought it before the store opened. Went home disappointed. Then had to take Mom for bloodwork (she didn't tell me ahead of time so I wasn't expecting it). Picked up mail, headed home. Then found another TV (65") but really good ratings and quality. Took my friend to get it, got it back to his house, helped him mount it, etc. But he had to take it down after I left bc he said there was a burning smell. I hope it's not a defect. Sound and picture on it were great.

Got e-mail from cyberpowerpc that Mom's laptop is in production.

Received my desk extender in the mail & put it together and mounted it. Had to use wd40 on one of the bolts to get it to move. But now my subwoofer doesn't fall off my desk. Cats are enjoying the box it came in.

My hands hurt and my back aches so I'm going to get some rest. Mom has a doctor appointment tomorrow.

Don't you just Love the TV's they're making these days... So Large with great picture quality... I have a 70" LG with almost 1000 watts of surround sound system. It's better than the movie theaters.

No, I did some speculation purchasing. I bought, bought, and bought more, then when the idiot got into office, I bought some more. Then again, I was paying $.13 cents to $.20 cents a round. Now I hear it is $.36 a round!? Yikes.

The new TVs are cool. I'm hoping that companies that make the OLED can utilize the tech for ULED to get crisper picture. LG made the OLEDs and now Sony is making them and they are gorgeous. But super expensive. Sony usually has good sound too. Would love an amalgam of Sony OLED/ULED (Guess it would be UOLED- Ultra Organic Light Emitting Diode) and Bose speakers. Too bad they are so high in price.

Took mom for her doctor's appointment. She tricked Fippy into staying in the living room so he didn't try to jump in the truck with us. He got chicken to make up for it when we got home. Got mail-- my anti-vibration pads for laundry appliances came in as well as my sanding pads for my matrix sander attachment. Mom insisted on stopping at Walmart so that took awhile. She got a hug from one of the greeters (who is a friend of the family). Saw the obituary table for one of the former employees (a lady named Kim-- very sweet lady-- died of Covid). Everything in mom's bloodwork and such is good but she's gained a few pounds & her sugar is a little high. She blamed me for it because I got muffins and donuts (I got the donuts once in the past few months). I asked her if I held a gun to her head and made her eat it. Doctor laughed. We discussed alternatives for the sweet-tooth cravings.

My brother helped unload groceries and put them away. Even heated up a tv dinner for Mom. He was working on his laundry-- beat me to the washing machine. You know how sometimes a printer will refuse to print in black & white because you're low on or out of colored ink? Washing machine wouldn't run even on cold because it detected no hot water coming in. But now that its hooked up again, it's working. I found the dryer sheets for my brother and held his laundry bag open while he unloaded the dryer. He actually cleaned the lint out of the filter (joked that he was going to make a sweater with it).

It's cooling off for the night so kitties are piling on me. They were all up in my face when I was trying to take my medicine today. I had to reach over them, to try to take the caps off my bottle while I held it, then had to push them with my forearm and try to get the pills out. They kept bumping my hands. They headbutted my hands when I was trying to get my pills into my mouth too-- hands were not petting them so they had to get my attention. At leas they didn't ram the water bottle while I was drinking (this time). Then one of them followed me to the bathroom. Leapt up from the floor onto my chest while I was on the john. Fortunately, he stayed down once I set him back on the floor. Despite the nuisance, it was nice to get cuddles.

If my back is feeling better in the morning I'll do some laundry. For now I need a nap.

With the price of ammo these days, I'm glad I have a bayonet on my M-14.

A case of 1000 9mm was going for about $500 is now $325... Not sure if I should stock up on some more just yet.

Looking to buy another 38 special. Found a nice looking Taurus snub nose but it was all scratched up already just from sitting in the case... I think I'll look for a stainless steel one instead.
