Air from hot water heater

I'm getting an excessive amount of air ( or maybe gas) from my electric hot water heater. I'm on city water, any idea ?

I don't know what brand you have, but I know Bradford White had a run with bad anode rods. Whatever they were made of would create gas in the water heater and cause the fixtures to spit and sputter.

Thanks, I know now I'm getting this from the anode rod. I removed magnesium rod from rheem protech, & the air stopped, i'm going to try aluminum.
