The EPA does this frequently in my state, mostly in the context of nitrates and ponds. People get local permission and the EPA tells them they messed up and need to change it. If I were you I'd call the local health department and ask them to give to drawings /guidelines they use on your area. Forget the part about it not applying to you. Otherwise the large filter field is what I'd do.

What’s the use of getting local permission then ?

Not permission. Guidelines / techniques

No, in your state where the EPA comes in and says it must be changed. Why get local approval in your state and do the work without getting EPA approval ?

What’s your experience with the EPA in your state stepping in and mandating change with septic systems that where approved and installed according to the local authorities specifications ? Read your #21 post.

The EPA is federal. The local authorities already said they didn’t care what system he uses.

That means any acceptable on site sewage disposal system. That means take your pick of any system that works.

That means doing a perc test.

That along with load determines what type system gets installed.

Why are you reiterating everything I just said? Again?

Because the EPA has nothing to do with it.

That’s my point. Any septic system will work if the ground percs. The local authority already gave permission.

What experience do you have with the EPA condeming a working septic system approved by the local authority ?

Post correct information or don’t post. Some people here know better than your BS you try to push about regulations. Especially me.

The EPA regularly goes onto farmland and tells farmers what they can and can't have. These farmers have whatever local permission they thought they needed yet they get funded by the EPA. I don't really need to prove it to you becuse you don't believe it, you (dumbly) don't believe anything you haven't read online. Even though anyone can create a website and put whatever they want on it.

There is no reason for this guy not to follow the local guidelines (which is what I said) just becuse some idiot in his local office doesn't care. Someone else higher up might. This is an insight meant to help this person. Your blind following and believing what you want to belive doesn't have much to do with anything. As with anything else I say Google it. I'm not here to teach an old man who doesn't want to learn.

Just for kicks I’m calling the EPA tomorrow about my septic tank......I bet they act like I’ve lost my F’n mind.......🤣

I’m not old......I just have a little common sense and since I’m in the plumbing business and have been for over 25 yrs and deal with local authorities and state officials on a regular basis I know you’re full of ****.

You talk a lot but don’t say much.

I just ask a local inspector about the EPA and septic systems.... he laughed at me. 🤡

You better be very careful with that horrible thought. The EPA would definitely care and can come in any time with unforseen motivations, and force something they consider compliant.

The above is the response you gave to the man telling you his local authority doesn’t care what type system he installs on his 25+ acres.

“ you better be careful with that horrible thought “
“Can come in anytime with unforeseen motivations “

WTF ? Who talks like that ? Someone trying to be an alarmist......know it all......

" I don't know how lightning works therefore it does what it wants"

LOL

I do love these theories about whether I've ever ran a business or not and how much experience I have. They are great. Keep them coming

It’s an observation, not a theory.

Experience and education are two different things. The lack of education shows.

Lack of education ? 🤣 While I don’t have a fancy piece of paper from a 4yr university, I’m well educated. Some of us do not require formal school in education to succeed.

I finished trade school in 1/3 of the time......it was pretty easy. I had already had 7 yrs experience by then and 12 years of private school education.

Before this goes any further.......

I just read this on the EPA’s website regarding septic systems.

“ Individual onsite systems are regulated by states, tribes and local governments “

All in the name of Education JG.

Sometimes I wonder how you've made it through life this long. Now your a lawyer? And you can clearly interpret the clean water act, adjacent waters, navigable tributaries, water shed, groundwater law? Your also claiming the EPA both doesn't have jurisdiction over water quality and that previous settlements don't exist?

So a scenario where someone discharges water into a tributary or adjacent, and there was measurable contamination the epa would not issue fines?

I'm going to go ahead and conclude your don't know what your talking about.
Searching Google for things to confirm your bias on a topic shows you're lost.

I do not know about the states , but in Canada, you must follow the national code with the exception that the if local code is stronger or more severe you must follow it , local or municipal or provincial can not dilute or make a code less severe.

The EPA’s website clearly states ......

“ Individual onsite systems are regulated by states, tribes and local governments “

This would apply to the original posters situation. He’s already checked with his local government.

Google didn’t tell me that. The EPA did.

it’s really not difficult is it ?

Well the next time the EPA sues a Texas municipality for its sewer infrastructure (and wins) we'll just tell them to hire two wax. He can show up to the courtroom with his piece of paper he printed off the internet and dazzel those dumb lawyers. It'll save them lots of money. It's simple.
