well_water_opening.jpgHello All,

We recently purchased a farm property and not aware of the well water system. We need to do chlorination and not sure what to open to pour chlorine.
Please check the attached picture and see if the circled bolt should be opened to pour chlorine. Any advice is appreciated.

Actually instead of a plug that should be a screened vent. But yes you can add chlorine there. You will need to attach a hose and circulate the chlorine for a while. Then just be sure to flush good with water when finished as the chlorine can eat on couplings and other things down the well.

Is this a one time shocking of the well? Or, do you need to install a chlorinator to continuously treat the water?
