I have an outdoor patio heater that has a propane line leak. The leak seems to be at a connection fitting in the line to the burner. The fitting is threaded on the outside. Since there are a few of these types of fittings, I'd like to redo them to ensure no leaks. I am guessing that these are flared fittings, and IIRC, teflon tape or pipe dope should not be used. What if anything should be used?

Thanks
J

Are they flared? Not that it's impossible but pipe dope on a flared fitting isn't usually done.

If it's npt blue monster is fine or whatever brand really. The threads are what seals the pipe. Dope is lube to help them slide right. It doesn't really matter what kind you use unless it's toxic and your using it on water.

Sounds like inverted flare. Waiting on sum pics.

The yellow teflon tape is correct for pipe threaded fitting with gas/propane. On flares normally noting. But, I occasionally put a small dabs Of silicone plumbers grease on the nut side of the flare to help the nut turn smoothly without galling the back of the flare.
