Question on lowering trap arm

I just purchased a new single-drain sink to replace a double-drain sink. I’d like to retain the garbage disposal and install it on the new sink. Good so far...

My problem is that the new sink drops 3” lower than my old one, so the garbage disposal drain will be lower than the current trap arm (?). it seems to me I could cut and remove approximately 3” of the PVC pipe below the current tee, and then re-attach the fittings. Does that make sense? Or am I missing something? Anything else i should
Be considering? I’d like to preserve the portion of the pipe above the current tee to retain the mini vent.

apologies for using any wrong terms here! Relative novice but feel like I should be able to install the sink myself

you would also have extend the tail pieces on the disposal, and the other bowl, both sides have to enter the wye with just slight pitch

As a quick follow up, I just wanted to make sure you didn’t see a problem with lowering that trap arm by removing a few inches of the pipe below the trap arm?
