So my kitchen sink has a vent issue where it is causing it to back up, i have a access hole hole on the pvc pipe if i leave this loose it drains fine but then it will leak is there any type of new nut that will let it vent but not leak?

Sorry i don't know what the proper name of it is. See pic.

Yeah, a clean out is not a vent. What does the rest of the piping look like? Is there a vent that's clogged?

Angering out the drain and vent would be your best solution.

Post a wider angle picture, showing the whole under sink drain.

It looks like you have an S trap, one that goes straight down through the floor of the cabinet.

A proper trap would be a P trap, which goes horizontal out the back, and connects to a Tee fitting, which goes down to drain, and up to a vent.

So you might not have a vent at all.
Or you might have a vent somewhere downstream nearby, depends on where the drain goes.

Snaking out the drain, as advised, might help.

Or maybe you could add an Air Admittance Valve, with a Wye or a Tee fitting, which lets air into the drain but does not let water out.

Pros on here can advise if this would work.

I have snaked it there is a grease clog on down the line from my wife pouring bacon grease down the drain!! So now every year or so it clogs, i've been using green gobbler drain cleaner that seemed to help but i didn't keep up on it this year.

If i tighten that nut on the clean out water backs up into the sink loosen it just a tad and it flows but then it leaks. There is a vent somewhere but it seems to be clogged. There is a dishwaser to the left of the pic.

eventually i will get a plumber to come in and install a new sink.

Thanks for the help and yeah i've already yelled at the wife about the grease.

It looks like you already have an AAV.
It can be partly seen behind the right hand sink, at the top of the pipe that has the clean out.

So that AAV might have failed.

Replace it, it just unscrews, very easy.

Then snake out the drain, no mystery why the drain is slow or clogging.

After snaking, start using Drain Defense once a week at bedtime, it gradually cleans out the sludge from the drain.

Pour the bacon grease into an empty steel food can, let harden in the fridge, then toss in trash.

Is that drain defense safe on alternative septic? I found the vent it's just a little cap with a spring it has some crap in it maybe if i clean it it will work again.

Thanks for your help,

Yes Drain Defense is just enzymes, it will even help a little bit in your septic system.
