Yep, these are trying times indeed. Just hunker down, keep your distance, and we will all be fine when this passes.

Hope you get it sorted out.

I went to Lowes to get the tub & shower walls for my friend. He had to keep tightening the tie-downs since the walls wouldn't fit in the bed lying down & it was windy. Got it home and the handles on the boxes made them easy to get to the porch. He has them out on the porch for now. Ever since he put up the dummy cameras, no one has stolen anything out of his yard. Crackheads used to be all up on his porch constantly, but now they are afraid to set foot on his lawn.

Question for plumbers though: Is there some purpose to the copper pipe being closed off at the end on this? Delta R10000-PFT-PX N/A 0.5 PEX Crimp Tub and Shower Rough-In ?
Is it for testing purposes or something? Any good videos or links on testing the water pressure/etc before getting everything attached?

Meanwhile, we also stopped at Best Buy where I had to shell out way more $$ than I wanted to on fans for my CPU & case. ALL of my fans and the liquid cooling failed so I had to get new stuff. CPU was running at 76°C. It's now running around 25°C. My friend took it all apart, used the compressed air to blow out the cat fur, cleaned things up a bit, and put the new fans in for me. The new fans on the top light up so my cat is afraid to sit over them thus far. He's sitting on my arms instead. I would have ordered the fans via Amazon but they aren't shipping orders out until April & I was afraid my processor was going to melt before then. Computer kept shutting off bc of overheating.

My friend finally figured out what is wrong with his car-- $13 part but he has to wait until it comes in. His mom came over tweaking and brought a bunch of clothes over. She cleans for people and there's a lady in town who decided to get rid of a bunch of stuff. She wears my Mom's size so Mom got some new clothes.

My friend's company laid off all but 10 employees & said he needs to wait a week to see if they are going to go out of business. He'll be unemployed if they do (obviously) but they are trying to see what happens. I don't know if an arcade running/repairing place would get any subsidies. My brother is still being made to go to work even with stuff closed. Instead of using the janitorial staff, they are making the cooks & waitstaff deep clean the casino. My brother is not happy about it because he hates cleaning-- plus he's got COPD so he's vulnerable to respiratory crud from other people.

My brother no longer has to go to work until the casino is ready to re-open. Stores are shortening their hours of business but making employees work longer for cleaning. The local walmart brought back overnight stockers. I'm friends with one of the managers so he told me the new hours & said they will be getting in bigger trucks for deliveries.

When my friend told me his company laid off all but 10 employees, I thought he meant in the state or in that casino-- but he meant nationwide. The guy who trained him was laid off. IIRC, the guy is still recovering from pneumonia.

Despite not going to work, my brother is still refusing to take out the trash, dump containers of his that now have maggots, or do anything at all around the house. Instead he's using up all of our internet bandwidth. We are only a few days in to the billing period but already 1/3 of the bandwidth is used up. I got tired of tripping over stuff in the kitchen so I filled up 2 trash bags & emptied all the trash cans from the kitchen. Swept up the floor-- the whole while grumbling about how my brother is on his own next time he wants a favor. He can buy his own damn groceries from now on. I'm trying to figure out the best hiding place for stuff because my last hiding place for the chicken noodle soup didn't work. He found it and has now consumed almost two entire cases of it (3rd one is still in the truck so he hasn't found it yet). Some prick on Amazon was selling a single can of the soup for $44.99. My brother left the empty cans all over the kitchen floor. I didn't get the entire kitchen cleaned up because my back gave out on me, but I got a lot of it picked up. I threw out some of my brother's stuff that fell on the floor & I'm tired of picking up after him. If he asks me to get him milk or something I'll give him the same response he gave me when I asked him to take out trash or to dump the maggot container outside.

My friend's fiance is now afraid to go out because someone told her pregnant women are at risk from covid-19-- which means we can leave her at home when I take him places to get stuff. I don't have to worry about her whining and complaining the whole trip & I don't have her asking me to buy her food & being super picky about what she wants to eat or have her start crying for no apparent reason (she did that *before* she was pregnant).

I need to come up with some sort of meal plan and hope my mother will be OK with it. She's very picky & will say she's hungry but then doesn't want any of the food available and whines and has tantrums. She's about to turn 70 but she acts like a toddler sometimes. I think I'm in a pissy mood so I'm griping a lot. LOL.

you do not want to know what i would do to your brother if I were you.

My brother didn't even thank me for cleaning up. He apparently thought I'd had a friend come over and clean bc he seemed to think there was no way I had cleaned it all up-- nevermind that I've had to clean it up the last umpteen times by myself. I did get help for awhile when my ankles were injured & my back still gives me trouble. He claimed he had planned to do it & I just laughed. He planned to think about doing it and not do it and find an excuse as to why he shouldn't have to.
My mother didn't even notice that I'd cleaned (not sure how she didn't notice, but she didn't). She kept asking my brother when he was going to clean up & if he'd cleaned yet. He made a mess in the sink & I'm having too much of a case of the eff-its to clean it up yet. I'm still feeling bleh. Allergy season is not helping.
People are officially being ordered to stay in unless its' for something essential. I'm willing to bet my friend's grandfather will completely ignore that. He's still been constantly calling my friend & when my friend wasn't answering because he was busy, the old man sent the cops out to look for him and order him to call him back. They did that 3 times so far (that I know of). I think it's a waste of police time and harassment. The old man needs to back off.
I'm trying to figure out how to get the dog food that my dogs prefer-- it's out of stock online and in stores. Not sure why.
The lever on my Toto Drake is starting to break. They charge something like $52 for the lever. It's metal on the outside but it has plastic inside and the plastic breaks after 5 or 6 years. I already replaced it once (thankfully I had one on a toilet tank for a toilet that hasn't been installed yet). I'm going to get a universal lever with metal next time.

Thanks, Frodo!
I actually grabbed a "Universal" handle that is all metal from the clearance bin awhile back. I'll have to find a picture of it, but it looks nice. The plastic spud is what keeps breaking on the damn thing. I wonder how hard it would be to try to fix it or replace it with metal.
That one from the link will come in handy for the 3rd toilet since we have 3 Drakes. Just need to get them all installed. I really should be working on that but I've been feeling like garbage. Getting light-headed, feeling exhausted, and coughing up mucus.
Today is the 11th anniversary of my father's death so it had me feeling down.

Just found out there were 4 positive cases of Covid-19 in my town. Two of them were inmates from the federal detention center. That means whole population could have been exposed as well as the lawyers and BOP workers.
Death rates in Louisiana from Covid-19 are rather high bc our healthcare system is garbage and the people who work at hospitals don't clean as often or as well as they should. Louisiana ranked as the absolute worst state in the country & healthcare was one of the things that was bad. I pity people in nursing homes and people who have family in nursing homes here. Particularly at the nasty one in town. It doesn't help that I see a lot of people from my town posting on FB about how this whole thing is a hoax & they don't need to wash their hands or cover their mouths when they cough, etc.

My brother has swollen tonsils & green mucus but he won't call the doctor. With his COPD it could just be a cold and/or allergies, but I still can't help but worry a teeny bit.

Before we found out about the Covid cases in town, I had an argument with my mother about going to the store. My RX won't be ready until tomorrow but she has 2 RXs to pick up and I wasn't feeling up to going anywhere today & didn't want to make 2 trips. I asked her if she's out yet but she said "No". I told her that it can wait until mine is ready tomorrow then. I'm also going to spot my best friend some $ since he's not getting paid while his work is shut down and I don't know if he qualifies for unemployment bc the company still exists & hasn't laid him off but bc his job is at the casino and it's shut down, he's getting zero hours of work. I also hope this won't affect the child support stuff since he's literally making nothing right now so nothing can be garnished.

My sister is working from home so she is playing the "pretend your cat is your co-worker game" and she's posting about how her "coworker decided she didn't want her own water so she decided to drink mine" with a pic of her cat's face in a glass of water. She also posted something about changing pajamas for the video calls-- there are the night pajamas and the work pajamas now. My aunt then mentioned that our grandmother used to stay in her pajamas all day and then change in to regular clothes just in time for my grandfather to get home from work.

Thinking about my grandmother makes me want to call my pseudo grandmother who moved to another town far away from here (I think she lives in the town where the Duck Dynasty people are from). I'll have to call her tomorrow to check up on her. She's 94 years old now I think.

It's been too quiet here. I have exposed nerves in two molars (broke one trying to dislodge a popcorn skin that got stuck up in the gums & a filling fell out of the other). It's been causing headaches and the pain radiates through the lower jaw (which the dentist said was caused by the nerves in the upper jaw) to my ear, to behind my left eye, to my nose, and down my neck. It's like being stabbed in the face from the inside. I couldn't sleep for 2 days from it & the doctor gave me some Tramadol- enough to last a week-- but my next dental appointment isn't until the 14th. I'm scheduled for a root canal. I've been trying to stretch out the meds by holding off on using them until absolutely necessary but they take 4 to 6 hours to actually start working and I'm supposed to take them every 4 hours "as needed". Fortunately, I got my Naproxyn refilled so that can help a little. I've actually been stretching the Tramadol 12 hours by distracting myself and swishing warm water around in my mouth to soothe the nerves.

Meanwhile, my jet pump is acting up. Water kept going out & I finally realized it coincided with laundry being done. When the pump runs for too long, the pressure switch chatters & shuts off. I went out to reset it and get the pump running again and heard the chatter. Last 3x it happened was from fried wires caused by power surges. Wish I could get a good surge protector out there for it. I need to get the weeds cut down enough that the pump guy can get in to check it but the former friend who promised to cut the weeds hasn't contacted me in a long time. Last time he talked to me was to ask for money-- he wanted to borrow $6k (which I didn't have & wouldn't have loaned him anyway since he never paid us back the $1300 he still owes-- he went and bought a new computer, iPhones, computer games, a truck, and other stuff but didn't even make a small payment).

As far pain meds go, you need to take them to keep the pain down. Spacing them out will make them not as effective. Tramadol is a good pain med that will not make you a junky too. That's all I have...

Zanne, many of our forums have expressed concerns about you, since you have not posted in weeks. Make sure you pop in to let them know you are ok!

rickwhoo, I wish I had the option to not stretch it out but they didn't give me enough to last until the root canal & they gave me hell about trying to get the medicine in the first place. Pharmacy refused to fill it until I showed them my driver's license TWICE and made me wait 45min in the store while they filled it. I've been managing OK though. Stretched it 14 hours yesterday.

Havasu, probably the homesteading forum. I'll pop in and say "Hi". Didn't realize how long it had been since I posted there.

Aww. Thanks!
Whatever irritation was going on was reduced by the antibiotics it seems. I stopped needing the Tramadol. Had the root canal today. Appointment was 11:30am. Got out at 1:40pm. They gave the numbing stuff a little extra time to soak in bc I tend to have a delayed reaction to things. Fortunately, they gave me enough and waited the right amount of time. I felt the needle to numb it on the inside edge (roof of my mouth) but it was about the same sensation as when I pick stuff out between my teeth with a metal toothpick so it didn't bother me. Neck got a little stiff after an hour, but they gave me a pillow when they saw me rubbing my neck when the dentist stepped out to get more equipment. He was having trouble finding the 4th root. Dentist kept thanking me for being patient-- I guess a lot of patients start to fuss. I knew he was trying to do what was best so I didn't mind. He & his assistant were funny. They had some banter back & forth. Assistant put on music & sang along for a bit. They gave me some creamy potato soup to take home. It was good stuff. Stopped at Samsclub to get more water & some chicken noodle soup. They had some char siew bao (a type of sweet barbecue pork filled steamed bun) so I grabbed some. It's nice & soft & it's great with a bit of Hoisin sauce.
I'm currently checking my messages & will probably take a nap soon.

My back tooth (the one that needs to be pulled) is hurting again. I was going to call the dentist & the phone rang-- it was the dentist's office. They wanted to know when I wanted to schedule the crown on my tooth that I got the root canal on. I told them asap bc the tooth was hurting & I want it pulled. Earliest they can do it is next Wednesday. I've already picked up another week's worth of antibiotics to take.
Water pressure went to crap & water stopped running. Pump wouldn't restart so I called my certified electrician friend (who is now a new member of this forum bc he needed to look at my thread with photos of the jet pump to get some info on it). I need to remember it's a 1HP 115/230. I picked him up and brought him out (his car can't handle my roads) to look at the pump but was overheated & tired so I only directed him to look at the wires on the D-Box on top of the cistern. I forgot to have him look at the pressure switch on the pump. We went back into town to get some wiring & a new switch. Tractor Supply had the switch. I pointed out the one that looked like the one I'd had before. He googled it & found out which of the two to get. He also confirmed what gauge wiring I needed (10/2 w/ ground). Took him back to my house & gave him a good flashlight. He then noticed how badly fried the wire was going to the pump-- it was fried up high on the ceiling of the shed and the pressure switch was blackened. I really need a bigger shed with a seat for things to be worked on bc he had to bend over awkwardly to work on it & it was probably 110° in there. He was dripping sweat. After changing out the switch and wiring it he swapped out the wires on the D-Box. He said it looked like the wires on the pressure switch hadn't been secured tightly. He dropped a screw while trying to put one in so I handed him the old switch to get a replacement screw.
I gave him some wet paper towels to wipe himself off & bought him a milkshake when we got into town.
I promised myself that I would clean the litterbox for the kittens today so I forced myself to do it. I should have done it sooner but I'd been feeling crappy. The waterer dripped in to the pan & made a mess of things. I really had to scrub that thing. The kittens were ecstatic about having a clean litterbox. They jumped in it before it was fully in their cage.
I was going to stop at the post office & was waiting on a parking spot to open up when I saw a truck backing out & figured I would take that spot-- then I recognized it as my brother's truck so I followed him for a bit. He headed home but I needed to go to the pharmacy. Man, I really wish I could just get some pliers and yank this tooth out. It's busted open on the side and has a big hollow spot in the middle.
The one with all the white is the tooth that got filled. The one to the right of that is the one that needs to be pulled & my wisdom tooth is up behind it. They said it's possible the wisdom tooth might grow in after this one gets yanked. But you can see the hollow spots on the decayed tooth.
