2004 Moen bathroom faucet disassembly

I have a leaky faucet and I presume it is a Moen because the aerator housing says Moen on it. The house was built in 2004 so I presume it is from that year.

I cannot figure out how to disassemble it to save my life. There is no screw underneath the top cover, there is no screw on the side and it is two pieces so the whole thing does not unscrew together. See pics.

Any help is appreciated.

I only have experience with Moen single.handle faucets. I would suggest calling Moen tech support people, and sending them those pictures. They will definitely be able to answer your question. Since they have a lifetime guarantee, they will also send you the parts for free. I have rental properties, and on the rare occasion that I have a problem, I call them, and the new parts arrive at my house in 2 or 3 days.

The entire trim housing unscrews from the faucet underneath.
Grab the chrome base and unscrew. Sometimes you have to have very strong hands to do this.

I thought that that technique only worked if the the handle and housing are one piece. In this case, when you turn the handle, the housing does not move, so they are two separate pieces.

Also, the housing is tapered upward making it nearly impossible to grab onto anything, even with pliers and I don't want to damage it.

They are one piece. As breplum said the handle escutcheon unscrews from the faucet body.

You were right. I wrapped a rubber glove around the escutcheon and used the channel locks to grab it and it came unscrewed.

I use a wrench made by Crescent intended for undoing A-N electrical connectors (aka "Cannon plugs"), but they work great for chrome fixtures.
