Moen sent me 2 cartridges # 1224 as they said it is what fits from the info I gave them. Got handle and trim part off easy enough top nut holding it in. For the life of me can't get it to come out so ready for ideas. It can't thread in as it is keyed with a tab to locate and replacement has no threads just 2 o-rings.

I am a bit worried about heat as there is plastic trim still there but could try a wet cloth on top of that and don't want to melt the plastic cartridge either. I was tempted to turn the water on but suspect if it worked I would have a missile and a flood.

I am up for any and all ideas.

Go on YouTube and search Moen 1224 cartridge .

Well the video was useless as the problem is with the remove cartridge that is frozen into the brass part. It was nice that lifted so nice out of a new faucet. Mine is 15 years old and very well frozen in. So more ideas?

Fill the housing with white vinegar, and let it set for a while. Screw a longer screw in to cartridge that gets the screw head above the deck, and grab it with the vise grips, and wiggle.

The video offerd worked quite well and very happy with the results no drips works as it did 15 years ago and have parts for the cold side that has no problems so decided to eave well enough alone, I am very pleased with the help offered and an old man on SS saved a pile of money from the kind help of others. Thank you all for your help!
