Why all the confusion and discussion of flow rate and pressure changes.????
A recirculation loop simply puts the source of hot water closer to the point of use.

Benjamin Needham,

Taco has responded to the request you submitted on Taco-HVAC.com.

Message: Ok so, Assuming the pump was sized based off of a design flow of approximately 1GPM... The head loss in your system would be ~ 0.5Ft If I plot out your system curve overlaid with the 007 pump curve, the actual expected flow would be ~ 4GPM 40 feet of 3/4 inch type L copper will hold ~ 1.016 Gallons 1.016Gal/(4 Gal/Min) ~ apprximitly 15 Seconds Provided the assumptions are correct.

Not that this info, from Taco has anything to do with the issue you guys are debating about, but I feel compelled to point out that it's incorrect.
They are using 40 feet for the system curve, which is considerably less than what it actually is. 40 feet was(I believe) the single pipe line distance. (Not the entire loop with fittings.)
But like I said, I don't think the amount of time it took the hot water to reach the faucet, with a recirc system, was an issue anyway.

It’s like Payton place here. THIS IS SUCH A FIRST WORLD PROBLEM! Any pump will work. I’m soooo tired....
