Low hot water pressure

Hi everyone,

First time posting (and first sink repair), so I appreciate your help in advance. This may be a simple problem -- but I've searched for solutions online and haven't been able to figure out anything that fixes it.

I have a kitchen sink with low hot water pressure out of the faucet (cold water pressure is fine). However, the hot water coming out of the wall (under the sink) is extremely powerful when it's fully opened up.

I troubleshot the sink and thought that it was a valve issue. But when I swapped out the faucets (putting in an entirely new, different assembly), the hot water pressure is still extremely slow.

I'm at a loss at what to do next , and would really appreciate any advice you could give. Thanks so much.

Yes, I did -- no luck, unfortunately

It's fairly common for homeowners to experience no hot water pressure or a situation where the hot water faucet releases water at a significantly slower pace than usual. The problem could be mineral deposits, and is caused by the hot water separating the minerals much faster than the cold water does.

To clarify, when I open up the pipe coming out of the wall, it's on full blast -- it's coming out extremely quickly. When I hook it up to any faucet (I've tried two now), it comes out as a trickle.

have you checked
for obstruction in the stop valve under the counter?
for a possible kink in the supply tube connecting the faucet ?
for a dirty aerator?

Hi frodo:

1) When I open the stop valve, the water comes out full force;
2) I've made sure the supply tube (on both installs) is straight;
3) I've tried it with two different aerators on two different faucets

If pressure is fine coming out of the supply that connects to the faucet then logic dictates it has to be in the faucet.
I understand you have tried two faucets.

Just for the hell of it, try reversing the CW and HW supplies to the faucet.

If same symptoms, and it's a two handle faucet, try removing the HW valve stem with shut off valve closed, then slowly open shutoff valve with inverted pan over faucet.

ok......so lets go over whats been done
2 faucet changes....same symptom
verified plenty of water. out of the stop
so...logic says it is the supply tube

remove, replace the supply tube

I would like a picture, of the suppy tube where it connects to the body of the faucet
yeah...i am asking you to lay on your back, and take a picture lol

i know this could be repetitive but take the aerator off and try it..... with 2 people take the washer off of the hot stop and see what happens

if. Teflon tape was used. it could be plugging stuff up

Hey everyone, thanks a ton for all of your advice. Just wanted to provide an update:

I looked online and found out that a lot of people complained about the second faucet I had installed because of low water pressure (apparently it's one of the kind that reduces water expenses). So I switched it out for the original faucet again, but this time I connected the HW flex supply into the other HW valve stem (there are two coming out of the wall...I think the other was supposed to be for the dishwasher, but we don't use it at all).

After that, the original faucet worked perfectly. Looks like the original HW valve stem we were using is clogged or something. In any case, it's working great now.
