Hi, first time poster here! I've been having some issues with the water supply in my home. It started with my refrigerator losing water pressure when using the water dispenser right after I replaced the water filter. Then gradually making 'water hammer' noises when using the water dispenser or when the ice machine is filling up. Then the water pressure regulator valve started getting loud and makes a high pitched squeal when the water is used anywhere in the house. Adjusting the valve relieves the squealing noise sometimes, but I have to keep adjusting it. I've also noticed that the water heater is making a lot of loud bubbling noises, but not sure if this is related or if that is how water heaters usually sound. I think I've even heard the water heater make some noticeably loud bang noises from time to time. I'm not sure where to start on these problems. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. Just found out that if we push hard on the water filter for the fridge, the water will flow again out of the water dispenser. So weird.

have you tried cleaning the screen on your prv should be a big brass nut that unscrews it has a screen in it try cleaning that
Thanks for the advice. I looked at my PRV in detail and it seems that the filter opening is against the wall and inaccessible. I included a picture to show my setup. The picture is rotated incorrectly, but it should be rotated 90 degrees clockwise. So I guess I should probably start looking at getting this PRV replaced?

I found the specifications sheet (link below) for my PRV. This model is discontinued so I'm not sure what I should be looking for in a replacement. I'm thinking A PRV that is the same length and has a NPT threaded female inlet and outlet will work? The specs say it can accept threads for a 1/2" to 1" pipe. I spotted a 3/4" designation on the pipes entering and leaving the PRV, so I suppose that the new PRV should have a 3/4" NPT threaded female inlet and outlet as well?

you need to check the metal tag under that adjustment screw for your pressure perameters so the new one matches it

I checked my water pressure and it is reading about 55 PSI. The water pressure still fluctuates sometimes so I don't know what else the problem could be other then the PRV. I bought a new PRV but was unaware of how PEX pipes connect. I just through I could screw off the connections. I think I'll have to call in a professional to handle replace this. I'm not feeling confident enough to handle this project on my own.
