Hello all. I’m new to the form and helping to get some great advice. I’m looking to purchase an old home that was built in 1961. It is on pier and beam and the plumbing is cast-iron. Upon inspection there was multiple leaks, corrosion and interior ration of all the plumbing in the crawlspace. I’m in the negotiation process and have asked for all that plumbing to be replaced and not just patched up. They will either throw money at me by taking off the total purchase price of the home or fix the problem for me. The problem is, if they just want to take money off the purchase price I have no idea what is acceptable. Here’s a little info on the house… It’s 1700 ft.² and The plumbing is above ground in the crawlspace. What is just a general average or best to worst case scenario add the cost of such a job I have pictures taken by the inspector but I can’t figure out how to upload them.

No real way for us to gauge that without pictures or information....how many bathrooms, Kitchens, utility sinks, floor drains, etc. single level home with pipes exposed in crawl space, do they run into the foundation? I’ll take a stab at it at 12-20k to replace it all.

Oops. It’s two baths , one kitchen and utility. Pipes are exposed. Also in Fort Worth Texas.

call a plumber in the area to give you an estimate on re piping the house
then add 20% to his bid and give it to your realtor or the seller

get a price to replace sewer from the city sewer tap all the way
and water piping from the water meter all the way

In Hawaii someone I know recently paid $3500 to replace a similar set up as your's but 1 full bath consisting of a bathtub, separate shower stall, lav, and toilet, cast iron replaced with PVC.
