Here is my issue! I live in a rural area in East Texas. I believe the water main under the road is leaking and the water is running under my property. Every time we get a good rain my yard floods and I have water just standing. It is a sandy soil. The water main is under the road and the road is a black top road. We have lots of oil field trucks on this road. I have been here 4 yrs and have witnessed one main break in front of my house that they came and repaired it. The water main is approximately 50yrs old. So I guess my question is how do I prove it is leaking. I called the regulating authorities and they came out but since they didn’t see anything with just a visual inspection they didn’t do anything. Also the investigation was conducted by a woman that grew up here and knows everyone in the water company. My house is pier and beam and water collects under it. The beams are starting to give way due to constant moisture. I need to find a way to prove the water main is leaking and force the water company to repair it and my house. Sorry for ranting I’m just frustrated.

I’m already suffering foundation issues. I don’t know about a leak detection company. Not many services in this area. I will have to google for that one.

Tell the water company. They sell water, leaks are expensive.

Typically they will own leak detection equipment, because they want to find and repair the leaks.

Most states have regulations of how much loss a system can have, before they are required to repair/replace the system.

Hey! I found a so called leak detection company and all they claim to be able to do is prove it’s not my water. I kinda laughed at them and said I know it’s not my water because my water bill is the same for yrs now. Besides that all the water is on the opposite side of my property from my water lines. I also contacted an attorney and he says that he cannot help about the property damage due to statuet of limitation. He recommended hiring an expert but wasn’t able to suggest anyone. Right now we have not had any rain since the first of the month and I’m still standing in water. I am getting desperate here. The water main is under the road on the opposite side from me.
