Replacing toilet cistern

I am considering replacing an existing (14 years old) dual flush toilet cistern with a new one.

A full flush with the old cistern is 8 liters (about 1.8 US gallons) but the new cisterns are only 6 liters (about 1.3 gallons).
Would the smaller flush quantity work with the existing toilet bowl?
Would the existing toilet bowl be designed for an 8 liter flush and perhaps not flush correctly with the smaller flush?

I'd guess that there is a very good chance that it wouldn't work as well as it should or could.
The bowls are typically designed to work in conjunction with a specific quantity and velocity of water.
The lower the volume, the more problematic it becomes. Not to mention the carrying capabilities of a lower volume of water to carry solids through the pipe lines.

Although not necessarily a good test, you could try filling your existing cistern with the lesser amount of water and see how that works.

Many of the toilets that have been designed for low flows could definitely use improvement, in my opinion.

I didn't think of filling the existing cistern with the smaller volume and checking the flushing. Good point.
I guessed that toilet bowl shapes are designed for a particular flow of water for correct flushing.

Lots of snow around you now I guess. I had friends at West Wareham and have been told all about that.

We don't have any snow around right now. We had about 6"+/- a month ago.

In fact, yesterday temp was 62 degrees F(About 17 Deg C) and today was in the 50's(about 11 deg C).
