I have a 1960's Speakman-Kent Shower Valve as detailed in the following link http://notthisoldhouse.blogspot.com/2011/01/1960s-era-speakman-kent-shower-valves.html
I have tried to remove both the hot and cold shower stems but there is something stopping them being removed after I have unscrewed them all the way. They are loose but cannot be removed. I have applied a lot of force to see if I can pull them out but it hasn't worked. Any ideas?

images aren't loading up,sounds a lot simpler to just open wall and replace valve

So your fixed by your description on photo. But they have new dress up kits for those. Flipping seal over will create a emergency one night at the end of a shower. Please retrieve a new stem and seal. Good that you got seat replaced. That’s 90% of your leak.

No I'm not fixed, I cannot get the stems out, they unscrew all the way but there seems to be something at the end of the stem , inside the valve, stopping the stem coming out. I have new stems to fit but can't fit them obviously.

o sry read it wrong. The first hex nut is just a stem seal nut. (Packing nut)These older 3 handles were mostly tiled tight. Anytime the valve has never been broken loose. I have to expand hole to get to to next hex nut. The center tub diverter. Is more a pain. Mark maximum hole size with existing chrome ring (euchuteon) then a diamond dremel. We aren’t opening up wall. Just making room for socket to get into hex fitting on valve.
I keep going back to that link. There is someone explaining that it’s fixed and ready so I little confused. The pictures show front of steam. Do you have stem sockets?

take off the handle/grind it off if needed to create access to the hex nut in wall then use hex tool to unthreat

if your wondering how to remove the nut behind the tile there are (sockets) at hd or lowes /any hardware store has in the plumbing section after removing that the stem should thread out
