    Tub flow=no back pressure. Shower(diverted) flow=back pressure. The back pressure revealed your
    bad solder joints.

    The hex nut inside the spout base is what secures your diverter. Use a correct size hex wrench
    to remove the nut and pull out the diverter underneath.

    OMG they are idiots. Remove the 3/8" comp adapter from the end of the steel water supply pipe.
