I tried to rotate that ring in the middle but it didn't move.
Any ideas on how to remove the tub valve so that I can put tiles against the wall?

Just take the escutcheon off the wall...it pulls right out after removing the two screws.

the handle has a set screw more likely allen type. remove that first. Then the sleeve can pull off. put if you want the whole valve, gotta go behind it. Or are you just talking cartridge?

I can't unscrew it using the Allen wrench. It might be corroded. I tried to put WD40 but it's still not coming out. Which way should I turn the Allen wrench? Clockwise or anti clockwise?

Turn the screw counter clockwise as you are looking at it.

Also, WD 40 displaces water, thus the name. Go get yourself some PBlaster, at your local hardware store. Spray it on, then let it sit overnight.

Or if you are going to end up replacing entire valve (part behind the wall) just cut it behind the handle.
