Pex Shower Connection

Hello All,

Shower remodel going on, plumber came out and connected the shower head and faucet. We wanted the shower head moved two inches higher, so the builder we hired had the plumber come back out and move the shower head. As seen in the picture, instead of just using a new piece of Pex pipe he cut and basically spliced in an additional piece.

The wall is an exterior wall, brick, so if there is a issue there will be no way to access.

Thoughts? Our concern is this additional fitting is a weakness, especially if we were to say lose power for a few days during a winter storm and there was to be freezing. (rare in NC).

No thoughts? Should I have the plumber come back and replace the piping to the shower head with a single piece of pipe? Or is this extra connector in the bottom of the piece ok?

It is just as likely to fail as any of the other pex joints you have in the wall. I am sure they will charge the system before the pipe is covered.

You will have no additional leak worries with how this was done. The plumber did take the lazy way though...
